Indian Passport

Indian passports can be renewed one year before the date of its final expiry or six months after its expiration. The passports are issued, at present, for a period of 10 years.

Following are the documents required along with the application and requisite fee for a new Indian Passport booklet:

I) Four passport size photographs, front pose (with both ears visible).

II) Photocopy of applicants residence permit or likewise document to prove their lawful residential status in the jurisdiction of the Embassy.

It may please be noted that passports of a temporary visitor, applying for extension of Passport, would be given extension for a limited period only to facilitate his/her return.

It is an offence under the Passport Act to give false/suppressed information in the application. Passport facilities can be denied on the grounds of suppression of factual information, submission of false particulars and willful damage/loss of passport.

Factual changes in passport like change of name, appearance, signature, address etc. can be carried out in a prescribed manner. For details contact the Embassy.
