IMPORTANT NOTICE
Machine Readable Indian Passports

In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization guidelines, Government of India has decided to introduce machine readable passports for Indian Nationals.  Under the scheme ,these machine readable passports will be issued by a centralized point in India with effect from August 26,2007.
The Procedural details of the scheme are as under :
i. Applicants residing in Panama applying for the new Indian Passport have to apply online at website https://passport.gov.in can also be accessed through the website of the Indian Embassy in Panama. Till such time that website indicated for online applications becomes operational, applicants may have to fill up forms manually.

ii. Take a print out of the application form filled online.
iii. Copy of the application form, the relevant application fees and the original passport are required to be deposited in the Embassy.
iv. The online form filled by an applicant will then be transmitted electronically to India by the Embassy for processing and printing of the passports.
V Passport Issuing Authority in India will ensure dispatch of the new passport within 10 days thereafter.
