Government of India has provided certain special facilities for Non Resident Indians (NRI) and People of Indian Origin(PIO). Such facilities include special treatment in banking, investment, visa, etc. The details of such facilities could be obtained in the web page of India Investment Centre at http://iic.nic.in/

PIO Card Scheme - People of Indian Origin(PIO) are entitled to get PIO Cards which enable them entry to India without visa. Details are available at http://mha.nic.in/pioscheme.htm

Pravashi Bharatiya Divas – Since 2003, India has designated January 9 as the Pravashi Bharatiya Divas or the day of the Indians who are residing abroad. On this day and the following few days events including conferences of Indians and people of Indian origin residing abroad are organized. If you are one you are also invited to attend one. Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre ( O I F C ) - To facilitate engagement with India of Overseas 25 million Indians spread across 130 countries, an Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre [OIFC] has been established in May 2007.  OIFC is a public-private partnership of Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs [MOIA] and Confederation of Indian Industry [CII]. Envisioned to act as a one-stop shop for overseas Indians, it has mandate to cover two broad areas viz. Investment facilitation and Knowledge networking. OIFC will provide a host of investment and business advisory services to potential overseas investors. In order to provide quality services, OIFC has a strong back-end support in the form of eminent Knowledge Partners. It will function as non-profit body with the objective of promoting overseas Indian investments in Indian and facilitating business-to-business partnership between Indian business and Overseas Indians.
